Muramba Village Vocational School

St. Charles Lwanga Kolping
Vocational Training Centre - Muramba (CLKVTC)

"Knowledge, Skills, Experience"

The objective of this school is to bring basic appropriate technologies to rural areas to fight poverty and create jobs. All of the courses consider the needs of the community, and all of them provide students with marketable skills and provide job opportunities. The training is done in such a way that students can not only go out and seek jobs, but are actually encouraged to create jobs.

The school was started in February of 2002 in order to offer practical skills in different fields to orphans and less fortunate youth, which will allow them to have a far better future. The skills they learn will help the students learn to help themselves.. The school began with 93 students in the old church buildings. Last year the International Kolping Society, with the help of the German government, provided the school with two new buildings and so allowed the school to admit more students. Currently there are 254 students. There are many more orphans and other poor youth who would like to enroll in the school for job training, but it is now filled to capacity. One of our future plans is to greatly expand the size and capacity of the school.

A New Approach to Learning
