HIV/AIDS Campaign Helping
People to Overcome Their Fear |
The pandemic, escalated by poverty, is still increasing. People were afraid to talk about AIDS. Intensive programs were introduced to help the infected and affected people to freely talk about the scourge. The HIV/AIDS control campaign includes:
Education Behavior change and greater awareness. Nutrition Care We encourage people to learn more about ways to improve their general health through better nutrition. We teach them new skills in preparing food and sustaining their immunity to disease. Gardening and farming techniques are also taught. Domestic Hygiene Basic information about personal hygience and ways to keep their environment clean are explored. This information will help people develop immunity to opportunistic diseases. Counseling Services We encourage people affected HIV/AIDS to understand and accept their situation. Through counseling, we help them to work together to find solutions to their perosnal challenge in overcoming the pain and stigma associated with this disease. The HIV/AIDS Project has been working hand-in-hand with the World Food Progam (WFP). This has helped people to overcome the fear of accepting and talking about AIDS. They are submitting to voluntary testing in order to know the state of their health, and have formed an association which brings the infected together. There are now about 165 people in the association, including children, youth and adults.
